Since publishing The White Ships in 2009, Duncan O'Brien has given live presentations about the Matson Line ship era to audiences in California, Hawai'i and Canada. He has presented in dozens of museums, book stores and schools. He has also appeared in numerous TV interviews and documentaries.

In 2023 Duncan brought his extensive archive of Matson Line era content to life aboard the Crown Princess, on a cruise from Honolulu to Papeete. The ship stopped in Lahaina, Maui, then calling at Apia, Samoa and Pago Pago, American Samoa on the way to Tahiti. 

As the ship re-traced the routes followed by Matson liners during their five decades of operation, Duncan gave six presentations on the vital role and continued influence of the white ships. With his collection of vintage photos, videos, and personal anecdotes, the enthusiastic audiences in the Princess Theatre  enjoyed learning about the history of the era and celebrating the memories of the golden age of steamships on the Pacific.
